2. Scope of these terms, and bookings made through third parties
These terms apply to all bookings for our tours, whether made directly with us or through a third-party booking platform (“reseller”), such as an online travel agency.
Where you book through a reseller, that reseller’s own terms and conditions also apply to your booking, and the information shown to you on that platform at the time of booking – in particular the price, the inclusions and the cancellation policy – is what governs your booking. If anything in these terms conflicts with the terms of the reseller you booked through, or with the agreement we have in place with that reseller, the reseller’s terms prevail for that booking. These terms then apply only so far as they do not conflict.
3. Bookings and confirmation
Your booking is confirmed when you receive our booking confirmation.
Bookings close at 16:00 on the day of the tour for the TEIDE Standard Sunset Tour and the TEIDE Sunset & Stargazing Tour, and at 10:00 on the day of the tour for the VIP Sunset & Stargazing Tour. All times given are local time in the Canary Islands. Where you book through a reseller, the booking deadline shown on that platform applies.
4. Prices
Prices are per person in euros and include only the services listed in the description of the tour you booked.
5. Age and children
Children under 8 cannot take part in any of our tours. Children aged 8 to 11 book at the child rate; guests aged 12 and over book at the adult rate. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We may ask for proof of age, and if the age given at the time of booking is incorrect we may refuse participation without refund.
6. Meeting point, pick-up and punctuality
Once your booking is confirmed, you will receive a personal message with the exact meeting point or, on tours that include transport, with your pick-up point. The exact time is confirmed by message on the day of the tour; please disregard any other time shown on your ticket.
On tours that include transport, hotel pick-up is available along the south coast between El Médano and Los Gigantes.
Please remain reachable by phone, WhatsApp or email on the day of the tour. If we cannot reach you, or if you do not arrive at the agreed place at the agreed time, the booking is treated as a no-show and is not refunded.
7. Self-drive tours
The TEIDE Standard Sunset Tour and the TEIDE Sunset & Stargazing Tour are self-drive: you reach the meeting point in your own vehicle. Public transport and taxis are not suitable for reaching the meeting point. You remain responsible for your own vehicle and for driving safely to and from the meeting point.
8. Where the tours take place
Our tours are held at public viewpoints where the activity is permitted by the local authorities. They do not take place on Mount Teide itself.
9. Cancellation by you
You may cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the start time, and no-shows, are not refunded.
Where you book through a reseller, the cancellation policy shown to you on that platform at the time of booking applies, and any cancellation must be made through that platform.
Refunds are made using the same payment method you used to book, within 7 working days. Where you booked through a reseller, the refund is handled by that platform under its own process.
10. Cancellation or changes by us
Our tours depend on weather and visibility. If the sky is cloudy, or if we otherwise have to cancel or reschedule a tour, you may choose either a new date or a full refund.
We may also adjust the meeting time, the pick-up time or the location for safety or operational reasons, and we may cancel a departure if a required minimum number of participants is not reached; where a minimum applies to your tour, it is shown at the time of booking. In such cases you may likewise choose a new date or a full refund.
If a tour has already started and conditions worsen to the point where the guide decides to end the activity, you may either reschedule within 12 months at no additional cost, or receive a 60% refund.
We may also modify or cancel an activity for reasons beyond our control or in cases of force majeure. The decision to cancel a tour, or to end one that has already started, is taken by the guide and is final.
11. Conditions at the location, health and suitability
The activity takes place outdoors after sunset, above 1,500 m, which counts as high mountain. Temperatures can change greatly and unpredictably compared with the coast. Warm clothing and closed shoes are essential, even in summer; sandals, flip-flops and sleeveless tops are not suitable.
There are no toilets, restaurants or other facilities at or near the locations we visit. You are welcome to bring your own water and a snack.
For safety reasons, our tours are not suitable for pregnant guests or for guests with reduced mobility, and we are unable to accept bookings for them. The activity takes place after dark at high altitude, in cold conditions and at open viewpoints where no facilities are available.
You are responsible for assessing whether the tour is suitable for you and for everyone in your booking, and for telling us before the tour about any medical condition that may be relevant to your participation.
12. Conduct
Please follow the guide’s instructions at all times. We may exclude a guest from the tour, without refund, where their behaviour puts themselves or others at risk, or where they are evidently under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
13. Photographs
On the tours where the tour description says so, a complimentary souvenir photo is included and is delivered to you digitally.
We do not publish photographs in which you are identifiable without your consent. If we would like to use a photograph for promotional purposes, we will ask you separately, and you are free to decline at any time.
14. Liability and insurance
We hold civil liability insurance for our activities, as required for our tourism registration.
We are liable in accordance with Spanish law. We are not responsible for personal belongings that you bring on the tour, nor for costs arising from your own travel arrangements, such as flights, accommodation or car hire.
15. Data protection
We process your personal data only in order to manage your booking and to contact you about your tour, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish data protection law. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at info@5starstenerife.com.
16. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please tell us first – we will try to resolve it. Official complaint forms (hojas de reclamaciones) are available on request, as required by Canary Islands consumer legislation.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. The courts of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have jurisdiction, except where consumer legislation gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
By completing a booking you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms.
